Porsha Lawrence-Mavour
Episodes Broadcast: 2007
Porsha Lawrence-Mavour first came to national attention in 2002. Just
ten years old, she was a finalist in the inaugural children's edition of
the reality competition Stars In Their Eyes; she sang the 1956
single My Boy Lollipop, which had been a hit in 1964 for Millie
Small. Lawrence-Mavour then acted on stage, before winning the role of
Kelsey Hooper in the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane
Adventures. Kelsey appeared in the debut episode, Invasion Of The Bane, which
aired on New Year's Day 2007. However, plans for the character to
continue were scuppered when showrunner Russell T Davies concluded that
a better gender balance was needed as the show proceeded to its first
full season. Consequently, Lawrence-Mavour was replaced by Daniel
Anthony as Clyde Langer; Kelsey would prove to be her only television
role.
