American actress Alexa Havins was born in Artesia, New Mexico. She
demonstrated a proficiency for dance at the tender age of three years,
and she was performing professionally by the time she was five. At the
encouragement of an acting coach, Havins attended New York City's Circle
in the Square Theatre School. She quickly won a role on the soap opera
All My Children in 2003; she remained on the programme until
2007, during which time she also enjoyed a stint on the sister show
One Life To Live. Havins went on to star in Turbo Dates,
and she appeared in episodes of programmes like Rescue Me and
Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Amongst her early movie credits
were Brooklyn Rules with Freddie Prinze Jr, the Katherine Heigl
romantic comedy 27 Dresses, and Old Dogs starring Robin
Williams and John Travolta. In 2005, Havins married her All My
Children castmate, Justin Bruening, with whom she would have two
daughters and a son.
Havins briefly returned to All My Children in 2011, the same year
that she joined the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood for its
fourth season, which was made as a co-production between the BBC and the
American network Starz. She portrayed Esther Drummond, an analyst with
the Central Intelligence Agency who became caught up in the events
surrounding the so-called Miracle Day. Havins' other television roles
during the 2010s came on shows like Grey's Anatomy,
Constantine, The Astronaut Wives Club and Barry.
Occasional movies included When In Rome with Kristen Bell, the
thriller Proxy, and the comic book docudrama Professor Marston
And The Wonder Women.
