Billy Gierhart
Episodes Broadcast: 2011
Billy Gierhart began his professional career in the late Nineties as
part of the camera crew -- most often operating a steadicam -- on
American programmes such as Pacific Blue, Huff and The
Shield. It was on the latter in 2008 that he had his first
opportunity to direct, and he soon moved on to shows like Sons Of
Anarchy and Breakout Kings. In 2011, Gierhart directed four
episodes for the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, which the
BBC was now co-producing in the United States with the Starz network.
Amongst his Torchwood assignments was the season finale, The Blood Line, which would
prove to be the last episode of the series. Gierhart's subsequent
credits included The Walking Dead, Once Upon A Time and
Agents Of SHIELD. He became an executive producer on the action
procedural SWAT, for which he would also direct thirty
installments.
