Camille Coduri was born in Wandsworth, London and developed a passion
for television during her childhood. This prompted her to take to the
stage while she was still in high school, after which she acted with the
Lyric Youth Theatre and studied drama at Kingsway Princeton College.
Coduri made her movie debut in 1987's A Prayer For The Dying with
Mickey Rourke, and was soon appearing on television in shows like
Boon, Campaign and Morris Minor's Marvellous
Motors. More films followed in the early Nineties, such as Nuns
On The Run and King Ralph, but television featured
increasingly prominently in Coduri's resume. Recurring roles included
Rumpole Of The Bailey, Nelson's Column and The History
Of Tom Jones, A Foundling. She married actor Christopher Fulford in
1992; daughter Rosa was born the following year, and son Santino in
1996.
After recovering from a serious liver ailment around the turn of the
century, Coduri could be seen in Family before taking on the
recurring role of Jackie Tyler in Doctor Who. Blazing new
territory by playing the mother of one of the Doctor's companions,
Coduri debuted in 2005's Rose. She appeared on and off
over the next two years, enjoying a combative relationship with
Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor before warming up to the Tenth
Doctor as played by David Tennant. After leaving Doctor Who in
2006's Doomsday, Coduri was
back in 2008 for the epic Journey's
End, and made a cameo in 2010's The End Of Time. Meanwhile,
other television roles included Sinchronicity, Lark Rise To
Candleford and Honest, while Coduri joined her Doctor
Who co-star Noel Clarke in his movies 4.3.2.1. and
Adulthood.
During the 2010s, Coduri's regular roles included Him & Her,
Edge Of Heaven and King Gary; amongst a variety of guest
appearances were Ashes To Ashes and Midsomer Murders. She
reprised Jackie Tyler for the range of Doctor Who audio dramas
from Big Finish Productions, beginning with Infamy Of The Zaross
in 2017.
