Catrin Stewart
Born: 29th January 1988
Episodes Broadcast: 2011-2014
Born in Wales, Catrin Stewart was interested in performance from a young
age, and began attending drama classes when she was ten years old.
Having already made her television debut in the 2003 telefilm Hearts
Of Gold, she joined the National Youth Theatre of Wales when she was
sixteen, and later attended drama school. Other early credits included
episodes of Casualty and Misfits. In 2011, Stewart joined
Doctor Who to play Jenny Flint, the partner of Silurian detective
Madame Vastra, in A Good Man Goes To
War. She would return to the character for three further stories
-- and a Children In Need mini-episode -- opposite Matt Smith's
Eleventh Doctor. Stewart's last television appearance as Jenny came in
2014's Deep Breath, the debut
adventure for Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.
Stewart subsequently had a recurring role in the comedy-drama
Stella, and starred in the crime drama Bang. Having
attracted rave reviews for her lead performance in a 2012 production of
Romeo And Juliet, she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company for a
year in 2015. In 2017, Stewart began appearing in Doctor Who
audio dramas for Big Finish Productions, starting with Truant for
The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield. She then reprised
Jenny for a new audio range called The Paternoster Gang beginning
in 2019. During the Twenties, Stewart was one of the main castmembers in
the Welsh-language drama Cyswllt.
