British-American director Dylan Holmes Williams originally set his
sights on a career in the music industry. As a teenager, he was a member
of the indie band Pull In Emergency, which was founded in 2007 and
released a self-titled album in 2010. However, the group split up in
2011 as those involved headed off to university. While completing an
undergraduate degree in the history of art, Holmes Williams became
interested in filmmaking; he started making music videos and working as
an editor. In 2017, he turned his attention to writing and directing
several short films, which began to garner critical acclaim. Holmes
Williams found work as a commercial director, and he was soon hired to
direct episodes of the American horror series Servant, the first
of which were broadcast in 2022. His next assignment was on the 2024
season of Doctor Who, directing the folk horror-tinged 73 Yards and the social media
satire Dot And Bubble for
Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor. Holmes Williams will also be the
director of a forthcoming five-part Doctor Who spin-off entitled
The War Between The Land And The Sea.
