Biography

As a child, London-born Fady Elsayed aspired to be a professional footballer, but he became interested in acting through his involvement with school plays. When he was sixteen years old, he started training at the Young Actors Theatre Islington. In 2012, Elsayed won a lead role in the crime drama My Brother The Devil, and the experience convinced him to pursue a career in acting. More movies followed, including Ill Manors with Riz Ahmed and Brotherhood from former Doctor Who companion Noel Clarke. On television, Elsayed could first be seen in a 2013 episode of Casualty, and then shows like Silent Witness and Law & Order: UK. He was also cast as Nabile, the young man trapped in the wifi at the start of Doctor Who's 2013 season premiere, The Bells Of Saint John. However, a late change of plans resulted in the material being remounted with a different actor.

Nonetheless, in 2016, Elsayed had another opportunity to join the Doctor Who family when he was chosen to play Ram Singh, an embittered former Coal Hill Academy football star, in the spin-off series Class. He reprised the role for the range of Class audio dramas, released by Big Finish Productions starting in 2018. Meanwhile, Elsayed appeared in a pair of biopics: A Private War starring Rosamund Pike and the Danish film Ser du månen, Daniel (released in English as Held For Ransom). During the Twenties, his television credits included a starring role in Gangs Of London, plus episodes of Baghdad Central and Little Birds.
