Biography

Lee Haven Jones was born in Mountain Ash, Wales. He earned an honours degree in drama from the University of Exeter, after which he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Following his graduation in 2000, Haven Jones established a career as an actor in shows like Love In A Cold Climate and Caerdydd. However, he then became interested in directing, and his 2009 documentary Dad A Fi garnered critical acclaim. Haven Jones began directing for Caerdydd, and he was soon working on both Welsh-language programmes such as Pobol y Cwm and 35 Diwrnod, as well as English-language series including The Indian Doctor, Wizards Vs Aliens and Shetland. He was both a producer and a director on 2015's Tir, and then an executive producer on Bang. Haven Jones founded the production company Joio, and his 2015 documentary Galesa was amongst its initial projects.

Haven Jones directed two stories for Doctor Who's 2020 season, including the second installment of the season premiere, Spyfall. He also made the 2021 New Year's Day special, Revolution Of The Daleks, which saw the departures of regular castmembers Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole. The same year, Haven Jones made his first feature film in the form of the horror movie Gwledd (that is, The Feast). Subsequent television work included episodes of The Long Call.
