Ravin J Ganatra

Ravin J Ganatra attended Manchester Metropolitan University, where he
read history. He considered pursuing graduate studies, but he instead
opted to become an actor. Ganatra began his professional career in the
early Nineties, with roles on shows like Doctors, Prime
Suspect, The Brittas Empire and Coronation Street. In
2000, he founded Guruji Productions. Ganatra's credits over the next
decade included programmes such as Holby City, EastEnders,
The Bill and Britz. His first brush with Doctor Who
came on the spin-off series Torchwood, with an appearance in the
2006 episode Greeks Bearing
Gifts. Ganatra could also be heard in the 2009 Torchwood
radio play Golden Age. During the 2010s, he took roles in shows
like Hollyoaks, In The Club, Seven & Me and
Cheat. Ganatra made his movie debut in 2010's The Infidel,
and he later appeared in Michael Winterbottom's Greed with Steve
Coogan. He played Hakim, father to companion Yasmin Khan, in three
Doctor Who stories starting with 2018's Arachnids In The UK. In the
Twenties, Ganatra could seen in episodes of The Canterville Ghost
and This England, plus the Mel Gibson movie On The
Line.
