Biography

Sheree Folkson began working in television during the Eighties, taking junior production positions on shows like Screen Two. By 1990, she was both producing and directing The Late Show, and she later took the same roles on projects including In Search Of Happiness and A Royal Scandal. Folkson also directed episodes of several dramas, amongst them like Gold and Touching Evil. In 1999, she worked under executive producer Nicola Shindler on Love In The 21st Century. This association led to her to work with one of Shindler's frequent collaborators, Russell T Davies, on Mine All Mine and Casanova. The latter starred David Tennant, and was a major influence on Davies' decision to cast him as the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who.

Folkson worked with Tennant again, this time on the silver screen with the 2011 romantic comedy The Decoy Bride. In the meantime, she had directed for programmes such as Hope Springs and Truckers, while also gaining some experience in the American market with episodes of Ugly Betty and Graceland. In 2014, Folkson made her only contribution to Doctor Who with the lyrical In The Forest Of The Night, starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. Thereafter, she continued to work on both sides of the Atlantic, on shows like Call The Midwife, The Tick and American Horror Story. Folkson was both a director and a co-executive producer on Imposters. During the Twenties, her directing credits included episodes of Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels, Bridgerton and Pennyworth.
