Terry McDonough
Episodes Broadcast: 2013
Terry McDonough got his start in the television industry during the
mid-Eighties. He variously worked as a grip, a camera assistant or a
camera operator on movies like Letter To Brezhnev with Alfred
Molina, and shows such as This Life. By the late Nineties,
McDonough was directing for programmes including Liverpool 1,
City Central and Peak Practice. Amongst his credits after
the turn of the century were The Royal, Wire In The Blood
and The Street; towards the end of the decade, he began working
on American shows like Breaking Bad. During the 2010s, McDonough
was principally based in the United States, with assignments like
Suits, Better Call Saul and The Expanse; he also
earned his first credits as an executive producer on the latter.
Nonetheless, he was occasionally lured back to the United Kingdom for
projects such as Cold Feet. Likewise, in 2013, McDonough's love
of early Doctor Who prompted him to direct An Adventure In Space And
Time. The docudrama about the show's formative years was broadcast
amidst the celebrations of its fiftieth anniversary. McDonough continued
to work into the Twenties, on programmes including Killing
Eve.
